What's Happening with Tyke Lacrosse After Covid?

If you are wondering what the plans are for tyke this year, I can let you know what the executive board has decided as a collective group. Seeing as none of our tykes have played lacrosse essentially except for fundamentals thanks to COVID we will only be having a Tyke 1 team for the 2022 season. Any kids that do not make that team will go back to our 3 on 3 program (fundamentals 5-7 year olds) to build their skills so that they can have a chance at making a travel team the following year. Outside of our Fundamentals (3-4 year olds)/ 3 on 3 Program (5-7) we only offer a travel program as we do not have the numbers to also have a house league.  We really need to work with our little guys and girls to get their skills up after not playing for 2 full seasons. We volunteers that have agreed to run our 3 on 3 program for us, so that it can get the attention that it deserves. Based on the numbers we should have enough kids to make up some teams once we get their sticks in their hands with some skills to start having some 3 on 3 games that would have referees once they are ready for that. We have had a lot of parents contact us with the worry that their child hasn't played at all before, or they only had fundamentals and now they are having to try out for tyke travel.  The other deciding factor for us to go this route was that there are no other associations in our zone that will have a tyke 2 team for the same reason. So even if we threw kids on a team, they would have no one to play in our zone. We feel that it will be more beneficial for all to go this route.

All players will report to tryouts when the tryout schedule is posted. Tryouts will begin the week of April 11th - we just do not have the schedule posted yet.  Any players released from the Tyke 1 team will report to fundamentals / 3 on 3 which will start on April 26th. Schedule will be posted soon. That being said, any tyke aged kids that end up going to the 3 on 3 program will get a refund for the difference as it does not cost as much to play fundamentals.  We are looking forward to an amazing season of lacrosse! Go Pacers!
