Zone Championships ended up being a pretty exciting first experience for many of our Tyke 2 players.
In semi-final action on Saturday morning, our third place Tyke 2's took on the second place London Blue Devils. London, our biggest rival all season, had been tough to beat with London winning all but one contest between the two teams during the regular season. Saturday was different! Our Pacers came out flying! In a back and forth contest, up and down the floor, our Pacers ran away with a 7-6 victory. London tied the game with 5 minutes to play but our boys did not give up. London gave the ball up in our end due to tough defense by Andrew Watson who came up with a loose ball and sent a pass to Bryson Forbes who netted the game winner with 6 seconds left on the clock!!!
The win sent our boys to the final against the Tyke 1 Windsor Warlocks. The boys came out flying and Bryson Forbes scored 15 seconds into the game, followed by first period goals by Lynk Gavigan, Blake Simon and Colton Kennedy. The second period was a goalie showdown with only one goal being scored in the 15 minute frame. Stellar goal tending by Carson Jolicoeur kept our Pacers in the lead going into the third period. Forbes scored again on a power play in the third from another sweet pass by Andrew Watson. But Windsor wasn't going away without a fight and came back within one with a minute and a half left. Strong goal tending and defense resulted in a 5-4 victory and behind the deafening screams of our Pacer fans, our boys were declared Tyke 2 Zone Champs!!!!
