Fundamentals Description (3 & 4 years old)

The Fundamentals Program for 3 and 4 year olds emphasizes a non-competitive, high participation-low skill-parent/player approach. This means the activities are designed to get the players involved in lacrosse and introduce them to some simple, fundamental movements and skills. Players are encouraged to do the best they can REGARDLESS of skill level, and it is ensured they have ample opportunity to explore what they can do with the stick and ball. Developmental coordination activities are integrated as much as possible. There is no player to player contact. Parent(s) are requested and encouraged to participate on the floor with their child. It doesn't matter if a parent has never played lacrosse before-it's fun to learn and play along with your child--all you need is a stick...the players love to have their parent playing with them.

Helmet, mask, lacrosse stick, and lacrosse gloves are required for players. Hockey gloves are not recommended as they do not allow proper stick grip. The lacrosse stick can be a beginner stick but the head must be large enough to hold a regulation lacrosse ball. In the program the players use a regulation size, but lightweight safety lacrosse ball.
